For more
than 21 years, SAR has been doing a party where Realtors
have donated so that poor and homeless Salem
children, ages 1st through 8th grades have a Christmas who
would not have a Christmas otherwise. They each
receive $50 in gifts from their wish lists from Santa.
The Unity
Church
provides stuffed animals for each child. Senior citizens
spend many many hours knitting hats and scarves for each
child. SAR also provides hygiene items including
toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, soap etc.
Over the years we’ve served up to 150
children each year, children whose names are provided by the
Salem-Keizer school district. This year, the real
estate industry is really suffering and
so is the community. The school district has in excess
of 250 children truly in need so we are hoping that the
community can help us this year so that we may help these
children.

 Since
1990, the Salem Association of Realtors ,
have brightened the Christmas season for close to
3,000 disadvantaged youth in our area. Volunteers
both old and young gather to wrap presents; prepare
food; paint faces; and generally summon the inner
Santa Claus’s within each of us to help 125 children
smile and receive the gifts of Christmas yet again.
A very wise person once said “the gifts of time and
love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly
merry Christmas”. To each and every person who
donates money, or helps us in any way, we hope that
the joy you helped provide those children gave you a
lasting holiday memory that you will want to carry
on for years to come.
Special thanks go out to the SARCF Board and SAR
Members for their hard work and leadership.
